Ujung Kulon National Park is located in the western part of Java Island, Indonesia. This national park area also includes the small island of Krakatau and several nearby island such as Pulau Handeuleum and Peucang. This park has an area of ​​1122.956 hectares; (443 km ² including the sea), which starts from the promontory of Ujung Kulon to the Indian Ocean.
National Park became the first National Park was inaugurated in Indonesia, and also was inaugurated as a World Heritage protected by UNESCO in 1991, because the area of protected forests covering an extremely broad. To date approximately 50 to 60 rhinos live in this habitat.

At first Ujung Kulon is the area of agriculture in several times until finally destroyed and exhausted all its inhabitants when Krakatoa erupted on August 27, 1883 which eventually turn this area back to forest.

Permission to enter this park can be obtained at the Park Headquarters in the City of Labuan or Tamanjaya. Lodging can be found on the island and Peucang Handeuleum.

Ujung Kulon National Park with Krakatau Nature Reserve is a national asset, and has been designated a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991.

To upgrade the management of Ujung Kulon National Park as World Natural Heritage Site, UNESCO has provided financial support and technical assistance.
